Apple Media Tool

is Alive

A Letter from Encore Développement that appeared on AMKDEV (Apple Media Tool Mailing List)

Hello all,

As you probably know, we are the team that designed and developed the first and second versions of AMT/AMTPE. Together with our company, Encore Développement, we would like to tell you that AMT/AMTPE is commercially and technically alive.

So much has been said here about the way Apple handled AMT/AMTPE that there is nothing to add. However we will always be grateful to several people at Apple for their contributions, and we hope that some of them will join us.

Even if, because of our duties as contractors, we did not discuss here the AMT/AMTPE issues, we followed the AMKDEV threads, browsed your sites, looked at your extensions, and so on... We thank you all warmly for your commitment.

Our company, Encore Développement, is a subsidiary of Havas Edition Electronique, one of the main French cdrom publisher and internet service provider. Havas Edition Electronique is a subsidiary of Havas, a major worldwide communication group.

Encore Développement has always been related to designers and developers making cdroms and kiosks. That is why we started, several years ago, what became AMT/AMTPE, and that is why we never stopped it.

We believe it is necessary to keep such a productive relationship and we want to extend it. So we will make sure that the latest engine/runtime is always available to you, via our http or ftp servers.

Concretely you can expect soon a Win32/QT3 based runtime, a Win32 hosted compiler/linker/debugger, a compiler/linker option to reduce the memory requirements, a much enhanced RTF supplier/handler, and so on...

It will be provided as usual for both AMT and AMTPE users since we will of course support both. If some of you are interested to be seeded, tell us. Now, let us work, we will announce the opening of our site here,
