Apple Media Tool
Please accept my apologies for the way that the news of AMT's death came out. If it is any small compensation, I was told on Friday that no such decision had been made, and I am very dissapointed to see the end of my product (and probably my job) announced in this way.
However, with every gray cloud you will find a silver lining. We (the AMT team) have fought a long and bloody battle to convince Apple that AMT is the great technology we all know it to be. For various reasons - some sane some not - Apple isn't interested in being in this market at the moment. But Apple's loss will be someone else's gain.
The AMT team are committed to making sure that AMT does not die. We are actively pursuing other deals that will ensure that AMT survives. I will do everything I can to make sure that AMT not only has a future, but a better one than it ever could have had at Apple.
I know this is a difficult time. I feel betrayed by the company I joined nine months ago, and I know that you all feel the same way. I am, at heart, an AMT/PE *user*. I believe it is the right tool for the job. I will not let it die.
Please, do not abandon AMT now. We are at a critical moment in the product's history. Its future will be determined in the next few weeks. The strongest card we have to play is the loyal and committed following we have in you. Every one of you. If you want AMT to die, you can guarantee this will happen by abandoning us now. Stay loyal to AMT and we will make sure it survives.
We are not ready to announce details at the moment, but you will be the first to know as soon as we have finalized plans. AMT is dead, long live AMT.
All the best, and many thanks for all your kind support,
Dan
